Lost Keys

The engine won't start when the device inside the car doesn't recognize the signal, which is intended as security measure to prevent thieves from wiring vehicles and driving them away.

The chip doesn't contain batteries, so it doesn't require charging or replaced. It does however need to be programmed to the car by someone who has access to the car's ECU, which is why it is important to take your key to locksmith.

There are several types of transponder chips on the market, the most well-known being Rolling Code and Crypto. Key blanks feature an aluminum head with slots that hold the glass ampoule/transponder.
